The world’s BEST restored M3 CSL?
Переглядів 130 тис.Рік тому
Where do we start on such an iconic car, and such an involved process..... Join us for a transformation on what's turned out to be probably one of the very best 'restored' BMW M3 CSL's in the world! This amazing 2003 E46 M3 CSL has 88,000 miles and in 2019 had a brand-new factory-assembled 'crate' Engine (part number 11.00.7.833.675) installed by BMW at a cost of nearly £20k. Then in 2020, it h...
BMW (E92) M3 Failed Subframe!

2008, 1 owner, 111,000 mile E92 M3 came into us for an Underside Refresh: www.redish-motorsport.com/BMWE90E92E93M3UndersideRestoration.html Upon removal of the Rear Subframe assembly, we were shocked to see a hole in the right-hand side tubular steel section. This video was recorded in 2020 It's common knowledge that E9x M3 Rear Subframes corrode, but it's usually just surface corrosion. Howeve...
Hidden Corrosion on BMW (E39) M5
Переглядів 96 тис.Рік тому
We really didn't know this hidden corrosion was present in the Rear Sills and Rear Jacking Points of this BMW (E39) M5! This is a Nov 2002 BMW E39 M5 with 124,000 miles. The corrosion was well hidden behind OEM factory seam sealer meaning that until you started pressing and poking certain sections you wouldn't believe how 'holed' it was. We were stunned when the Right Rear 'Sill End' gave way w...

FAILED BMW M5 Stage 2 = Bent Conrod
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
6-year-old BMW M5 with a Bent Conrod and Cracked Piston! (This work was carried out 3 years ago in 2020). This 2014 F10 M5 (S63 engine) has 74,000 miles and is Stage 2 tuned. Without warning the owner experienced an audible knocking noise. Dreading the worse he switched the engine off and recovered the M5 to us for investigation. Having not heard the knocking noise ourselves, it was hard to say...

Unbelievable Nut & Bolt Restoration on BMW M3
Переглядів 453 тис.Рік тому
Watch us painstakingly restore the underside of this 2006 54,000-mile BMW E46 M3 SMG Convertible. This work was carried out in 2021 and although the car had travelled a mere 54,000 miles, it seems that 15 years had taken its toll on the underside as many areas were showing signs of distress. We found various amounts of corrosion on the hardware (bolt-able items), and a notable amount also on th...
Insane ZERO RUST Japan-Import E46 M3
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Following on from last week's 'Titanic' Rust on the UK E46 M3, we thought it would be good to show the opposite end of the scale this week....... This is a 2002 74,000 KMS 'Japanese-Import' E46 M3 in pristine condition. We can't stress how good this car is. Without a doubt one of the best overall condition E46 M3s we've seen for years. However, even though this car presents extremely well under...
Titanic Rust on BMW E46 M3
Переглядів 27 тис.Рік тому
This was meant to be a straightforward 'RACP Repair & Reinforcement Process' but we were shocked when we saw how much corrosion had been eating this 2005 74k BMW E46 M3 alive! Even with its desirable Manual Transmission and Coupe body, it had suffered a particularly hard life and corrosion has been taking hold over the 16 years it's been on the road. Once the owner watched our 33-minute Intro v...

So your telling me that the vehicle has 88,000 miles on it and you think is normal to be telling a customer all of your nitpicky issues with a bill that will most likely be thousands of dollars, if that is what you call BMW quality then first off Im glad i will never own such junk and second you are the mechanic that gives the rest of us a bad name!!!! picking a car apart for every tiny issue is ridiculous. your supposed to be trying to help your customer without robbing them blind and why are you not working for BMW? if you were such a great mechanic for BMW you would be a master mechanic at BMW instead your robbing people at a hack shop. I would love to see the estimate you gave the customer. You are an embarrassment

I'm doing the same job on a Touring here in South Australia. I pulled the car apart years ago. This video is a great reference to the reassembly. I have to say I'm so glad my car is 100% corrosion free. Living in the driest state in the driest country in the world. I just can't fathom the rust you guys have to endure.

Great video! I didn't know it was just 12 seconds. Just to make clear to people, the carbon build up is so bad because it's DIRECT INJECTION and fuel doesn't go over the tops of the intake valves, it is injected directly into the cylinder. Non-DI engines have the fuel injected into the intake and it "washes" over the intake valves. The N54 is especially bad at carbon build up. The N55 has a recirculation which is supposed to help some but not sure how effective it is. Some manufacturers are adding some injection before the valves to help with this I believe. I use CRC DI cleaner every few oil changes to help, but it won't take off serious build up like this. You can buy the little vacuum attachment for about $25 and get a walnut set up (if you already have a compressor) for around $50-$150 depending on how fancy you want (if you're in the US, they sell at Harbor Freight for cheap). You just have to take off the intake though of course.

I’m getting ready to do this job. On my e46 m3. I was wondering if you could pls let me know the best seam sealer to use as well. As I’m very confused do I need epoxy primer and weld through primer ? A quick list of paints primers and seam sealer would help me out a lot. Thank you 🙏

An occasional oil analysis would go a long way towards detecting bearing wear before it becomes critical. If someone can afford this vehicle they can afford an oil analysis once a year.

BMWs are terrible for rot. Ive got an E46 thats absolutely worse than a 1980s allegro. Ive got an E34 with sills completely rotten out. Similarly ive got Volvos from the same era with not a single spot of rust. As clean as the factory underneath.

Really good Video, ihve learned alot from the Past Content, currently iam Saving my E34 Daylie, it had/has massive Rust Problems, mostly in the front bottom, a Thin Person could actually slip trough the big Hole, due to Water inbreak from Behind the Console somwhere, it was left there for likely 10 years before i bought the Car and checked it, however i got Into Welding from a Complete noob, i was scared of any Welding on the car, and now i feel like i could fix 90% of the Problems, also i learned, often if you Replace bad Metal, if you put new in, it does not have the exact same Shape of the old one, so you dont really need to buy every new shaped metal from BMW really, but thats just my take on it.
